Spotting the Letter S

A Stop Sign, the game's example, is posted at nearly every intersection you'll pass, which usually makes S the very first letter solved on any trip.

Often within the first block of driving, in fact — which makes this a good confidence-builder before the harder letters show up later in the alphabet.

Common Things to Spot

  • School
  • Semi truck
  • Stoplight
  • Strip mall
  • Speed limit sign

If You Want a Challenge

  • Silo
  • Suspension bridge
  • Scenic overlook sign

Spotting Tip

This is a good letter to grab in the first minute of your trip and not think about again — stop signs are everywhere, so spend your real attention on the harder letters like Q, X, and Z instead.

Fun Fact

U.S. stop signs weren't always red — before national standardization in 1954, many were yellow, since red pigment used to fade faster in sunlight and was considered less reliable for signage until better dyes became available.

For Younger Players

Stop signs are one of the first shapes most kids learn to recognize, often before they can read at all, which makes S one of the easiest letters for the youngest players in the car.
