Spotting the Letter C

Open pastureland is a C jackpot — a grazing Cow, the game's example, tends to travel in groups, so once you spot one field of them, more usually follow close behind.

Even if you're stuck on an interstate with no pastures in sight, construction cones and camper vans tend to appear often enough that this letter rarely takes long to solve either way.

Common Things to Spot

  • Church
  • Camper or RV
  • Construction cone
  • Car dealership
  • Cafe
  • Crosswalk

If You Want a Challenge

  • Covered bridge
  • Canal
  • Carousel (near a boardwalk or fairground)

Spotting Tip

Open pastureland is your best bet for the game's own example — once you spot one field of grazing cows, more usually follow within the next few miles, so keep watching once you've found the first one.

Fun Fact

A widely cited — but disputed — study of satellite and Google Earth images claimed that grazing cows tend to align their bodies along a north-south axis more often than chance would predict. Later researchers using different imagery couldn't reproduce the effect, so the jury's still out, but it's a fun thing to watch for out the window the next time you pass a pasture.

For Younger Players

Cows are a favorite for young kids because they're easy to spot from far away and don't require any reading at all — just watch a pasture for a minute or two and one usually wanders into view.
